Surviving the trade show juggernaut

We are deep into trade show season here at Naudic HQ. Last week we were in Melbourne for Life Instyle and Reed Gift Fairs, and next week we will be heading to Sydney for Fashion Exposed. It is such a fabulous time of year. We love to get out and reconnect with our loyal stockists, while adding some lovely new faces to the fold. Travelling around Australia and being part of the vibrant fashion and lifestyle industry here is such a privilege.

But all this travel can take its toll after a while, which is why it's so important to take care of ourselves when we're on the road. Our trade show pros, Emma and Lisa, have shared their essentials to staying healthy and sane when they're away from home.

Naudic's Travel Essentials

To wear:

  • A big bag that still has style, such as a Naudic Travel Bag
  • A lightweight scarf for staying warm on chilly aeroplanes
  • Comfy shoes that can handle plenty of walking, such as Converse sneakers

To work:

  • iPad for keeping up with emails on the fly
  • Notepad and pen for jotting down ideas -- travel can be such a wonderful source of inspiration
  • Business cards
  • Reading glasses

To relax:

  • A novel to get completely lost in
  • Glossy magazines for fashion, beauty and good reads, all in one place

To revive:

  • Nothing sets you up for the day like a great breakfast. We swear by Carman's muesli -- the single-serve pots are perfect for stashing in handbags.
  • Berocca, because sometimes you just need that extra kick!
  • A skin-refreshing toner, such as Clarins Tonic Lotion
  • A sampler size of your favourite perfume for freshening up between commitments. We love Eau Dynamisante

Are you a frequent traveller? What are your must-have items when you're on the road?

Hot cocoa, Naudic-style

Winter has well and truly arrived, so stave off the cold with Naudic's cocoa recipe that is hot in more ways than one!

You'll need:

Aari embroidery tablecloth from Naudic Spring 14, in stockists soon

  • Milk (about a cup per serve)
  • Cocoa powder (heaped teaspoon per serve)
  • Sugar (level teaspoon per serve)
  • Spices -- try a cinnamon stick, a few bruised cardamon pods and a chilli, roughly chopped (remove the seeds to tone down the heat)
  1. Whisk cocoa powder and milk until smooth
  2. Add sugar, and spices to taste
  3. Warm over medium heat until almost boiling
  4. Remove from heat and stand for 10 mins, then discard spices
  5. Pour into mugs and enjoy with family and friends!

How do you keep warm on chilly winter days?

High Summer photoshoot sneak peek

Winter may have barely begun but here at Naudic HQ we are already preparing for the hottest part of the year, shooting our High Summer 14-15 range. Yesterday we photographed our favourite pieces from the range on location at Lennox Head in northern New South Wales.

Lennox Head was a spectacular shooting location. We couldn’t have asked for better weather — it was like a true summer’s day with clear skies and a bright blue sea. Believe it or not, it was even warm enough for a swim!

Following the success of our spring shoot at Spicers Hidden Vale, we seized the opportunity to work with Atmosphere Photography again. They are a delight to work with, complete professionals and great company for a day on the beach.

Our model for this season was the exceptional Kate Dillewaard from Vivien’s Model Management. She has an effortless style and really embodied the Naudic look.

These pictures barely scratch the surface, so stay tuned for more in the coming months!

My home away from home

I have just returned from India, which has left me bursting with new ideas and inspiration as always. I have so much to share, but for now let me start with one of my favourite places, this innovation hub.

This creative space in India is where I work on all the new creations for the Naudic range. I usually spend four days, three times a year locked away in here. It has a perfect ambience to stimulate creativity.

One of my favourite pieces in the workshop is the wooden frame on the wall with its arms outstretched. I love its hands. They are soft, gentle but still pushing ahead with open arms for great ideas to come my way!

I can’t wait to share the fruits of my time spent here with you in the coming months. Summer 2014-15 in particular is going to be fabulous.

India bound

One of the best parts of my job is my annual trip to India, where I oversee the beginning of production for the coming year's ranges. Naudic is lucky to work with some wonderful and very talented people in India, and it is always a pleasure catching up with them and being able to work hands-on with the products. Beyond that, it is always an amazing experience to take in the sights, sounds and yes, smells, of India.

This year's trip is just days away, and the anticipation of being back in that beautiful country is making me reminisce about last year's visit.

It's impossible not to be inspired for fabric ideas by the glorious colours and prints the Indian women wear.

Last year's trip included a visit to the majestic Taj Mahal. Pictures truly do not do this building and its grounds justice. I wanted to move in!

I was also fortunate enough to be invited to the Delhi Hyatt for a fashion launch by one of my most treasured Indian contacts. It was amazing.

This was the beautiful invitation:

And the fashion show in full swing.

Finally, the best part of the trip: working with the fabric that will become beautiful Naudic garments.

Look forward to sharing some of the highlights of this year's trip very soon!

Sydney gets a taste of Naudic Spring

I have just returned from Sydney where we had a fantastic time at the Life In Style trade show. It’s always lovely to be able to re-connect with our stockists, many of whom have become friends over the years.

Our fashion line is always exciting and fun to show off, but a particular highlight this year was to be able to showcase our lifestyle products. The homewares market is really growing. Many stockists were keen on Naudic’s tablecloths, which are becoming a signature piece. They had a lot of fun checking our our medallion and Mexican floral embroideries, which this year feature bright pops of colour in jazzy pink, spring bud and blue atoll designs.

This image was the backdrop of our stall and set the scene perfectly.

Beyond the Naudic stall, we had a great time surrounded by a lot of positive energy and some great exhibitors. We can’t wait to return to Sydney very soon.

Next stop: Fashion Exposed in Melbourne this weekend. Might see you there!

Spring photo shoot success

While it’s many months before Spring fashions will be in stores, here at Naudic HQ we have been working busily to get our Spring ’14 line together. The latest in this job was our Spring photo shoot, which was held at the gorgeous Spicers Hidden Vale at Grandchester. Here’s a glimpse of how it went.

We couldn’t have hoped for a better location. It was beautiful green hills in all directions and the weather was perfect.

We couldn’t have hoped for a better location. It was beautiful green hills in all directions and the weather was perfect.

This Spring’s photo shoot was a little different to what we have done in the past. We worked with Justin, Josh, Chris and Peter from Atmosphere Photography and lovely models Rosa Solomon and Ella Lethbridge. One thing that hasn’t changed though was the gorgeous Naudic products, which were as fun and vibrant as ever!

In all, the shoot was a great success and a lot of fun! We can’t wait to reveal the full line in the next few months.

Spring Fabrics sneak peek

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the fabrics you’ll be seeing in our Spring collection later this year. We’re very excited about all the gorgeous bright colours we get to play with in our designs. It’s hard to pick a favourite but if we were forced to choose… nope, we really can’t decide! What’s your pick of this bunch?

Stay tuned for some behind-the-scenes shots of the finished product very soon…
